Peptide Program & Compounding Pharmacy FAQ
Everything you need to know about 503A/503B compounding pharmacy access, compliance, prescribing, membership, and how the Ventra Wellness network operates.
Legality & Compliance
Regulatory clarity
Yes. Compounding is federally legal under Sections 503A and 503B of the FD&C Act. 503A pharmacies compound patient-specific prescriptions based on a valid prescriber-patient relationship. 503B outsourcing facilities compound for office use under FDA oversight without requiring individual prescriptions at time of production — the administering provider writes the prescription at point of care. All Ventra pharmacy partners are licensed under one or both frameworks. Ventra operates as a practice development network — we connect practices to pharmacies but never compound, prescribe, or distribute.
An FDA-registered pharmacy that compounds medications based on individual patient-specific prescriptions. A valid prescriber-patient relationship is required. 503B outsourcing facilities operate differently — they compound for office use under FDA oversight without requiring individual prescriptions at time of production, but the administering provider writes the prescription at point of care.
Every order includes Certificate of Analysis, sterility testing results where applicable. Our member portal provides regulatory updates, consent templates, and staff training materials. We monitor the FDA, state boards, and NABP continuously so you don’t have to.
We monitor FDA bulk substance classifications continuously. If a product moves to Category 2 or is otherwise restricted, we immediately notify all members, remove it from the formulary, and provide patient transition guidance.
503A (Lane 2) is patient-specific compounding — each prescription is filled for a named patient. This is the route for practices using our telehealth prescriber network. 503B (Lane 1) is office-use compounding — your practice orders inventory in advance and administers on-site. This requires a prescriber on staff. Both lanes are fully supported through the Ventra network.
Medical & Prescribing
Prescription logistics
To order from compounding pharmacies, you need a valid prescriber (MD, DO, NP, or PA with prescriptive authority). Many wellness practices, clinics, and integrative offices already have a prescriber on staff — if so, they can prescribe directly. If your practice doesn’t have one, our telehealth physician network can handle prescription routing for your patients.
Patients complete an online intake form. A board-certified physician in our network reviews the intake and, if appropriate, writes the prescription. The script routes directly to the pharmacy. Your practice never handles the prescription — you simply provide the wellness consultation and treatment.
Absolutely. If you have an MD, DO, NP, or PA on staff, they prescribe directly and we route their scripts to our pharmacy partners at your competitive pharmacy pricing.
We provide onboarding training for your team covering peptide protocols, patient intake procedures, compliance documentation, and adverse event reporting. Ongoing education is included in your membership.
Patient safety is paramount. All adverse events should be managed clinically by the prescribing provider following standard medical protocols. We provide adverse event reporting templates and guidance as part of your compliance toolkit. The prescriber (whether your in-house provider or our telehealth network) maintains the clinical relationship and is responsible for patient care decisions.
Yes. Many of our members launch peptide programs with zero prior peptide experience. We provide onboarding training, clinical protocol guides, patient intake templates, consent forms, and ongoing education. Our telehealth prescriber network handles the prescription side if you don’t have a prescriber on staff. You focus on the patient consultation and wellness services.
Business & Billing
Membership economics
We offer two tiers: a free Partner Access tier with a one-time $250–$500 onboarding fee, and a premium Growth Partner tier at $499 per month. No long-term contracts. Cancel anytime with 30 days notice.
Premium tier is billed monthly at $499. Free tier members pay a one-time onboarding fee. Pharmacy orders are billed directly by the pharmacy at your competitive pharmacy rate. Telehealth script routing is $45 per script, billed monthly in arrears.
Most practices recoup their membership fee within their first 2–3 patient appointments. A practice seeing 20 peptide patients per month typically nets $5,000–$10,000 monthly after all costs. Results vary based on patient volume, pricing, and market conditions. Visit our Revenue page for the interactive calculator.
No long-term contracts. Month-to-month membership. We believe if the network isn’t delivering value, you shouldn’t be locked in. 30 days notice to cancel.
This depends on your model. Most practices charge patients directly for their services (consultation + treatment), and the pharmacy bills the practice at wholesale. Some practices use a drop-ship model where the pharmacy ships to the patient. We support both.
Products & Fulfillment
Formulary & logistics
Our formulary includes Semaglutide, Tirzepatide, NAD+, Sermorelin, PT-141, B12, Glutathione IV, and MIC/Lipo-B. BPC-157, TB-500, DSIP, Thymosin Alpha-1, and Ipamorelin/CJC-1295 are currently unavailable (FDA Category 2 or PCAC rejected) — RFK Jr. has announced plans to reclassify several of these to Category 1. See our full Formulary page.
Orders ship directly from our pharmacy partners. Cold-chain compliance is maintained with insulated packaging and temperature monitors. Tracking is provided for every shipment. Standard delivery is 2–3 business days.
In most cases, no. Products can ship directly to your practice refrigerator or directly to the patient. You are never a distributor or wholesaler — the pharmacy handles all dispensing.
All pharmacy partners are FDA-registered and state-licensed, with select PCAB-accredited partners. Every batch includes Certificate of Analysis and sterility testing documentation. We audit our pharmacy partners regularly.
Minimum order quantities vary by pharmacy partner and product. Most 503A patient-specific orders have no minimum — you order per patient. 503B office-use orders typically start at small quantities suitable for practices just getting started. Your onboarding specialist will walk you through the specifics for your preferred products.
Yes. Your membership includes ready-to-use patient consent form templates, intake questionnaires, and treatment documentation templates — all reviewed for compliance. Growth Partner members also receive custom-branded versions and ongoing updates as regulations change.
General
Additional questions
Yes. All compounded medications through the Ventra network are cash-pay. We do not process insurance claims, which keeps the model simple and keeps your practice outside federal insurance billing requirements.
Partner Access is our free tier — you get pharmacy network access, formulary pricing, and basic compliance templates for a one-time $250–$500 onboarding fee with no monthly cost. Growth Partner at $499/mo adds telehealth prescriber access, monthly marketing strategy calls, social media and email templates, patient education materials, Google Business Profile optimization, ongoing compliance monitoring, quarterly audits, and priority support.
No. Ventra maintains a zero-PHI architecture. Patient data flows directly between your practice, the telehealth provider, and the pharmacy. Ventra never accesses, stores, or transmits protected health information.
Most practices complete onboarding within 48 hours and can place their first patient order immediately after.
We work with med spas, IV therapy lounges, functional medicine clinics, integrative health practices, weight loss clinics, chiropractic offices, primary care practices, naturopathic clinics, and any licensed wellness practice looking to add peptide or GLP-1 services. If you serve patients in a clinical setting, you likely qualify.
You can contact a pharmacy directly — but you’ll negotiate pricing alone, build your own compliance infrastructure, source your own telehealth prescribers, create your own consent forms, and monitor FDA regulatory changes yourself. Ventra bundles all of that into one network: pre-negotiated pharmacy pricing, built-in telehealth prescriber access, compliance documentation, marketing support, and real-time regulatory updates. Most practices find the network saves them dozens of hours and reduces compliance risk significantly.
